To provide systematic assessment of
each resident's mental, physical and social care needs and develop
care plans that are regularly evaluated and reviewed (where possible
having resident and carer involvement).

To enable the development of the
optimum potential of each resident to achieve maximum quality of
life in mental, physical and social functioning.

To actively seek and respond to the
views expressed by residents and their relatives.

To provide information, advice and
support to residents and their representatives.

To ensure that staff are valued and
have the necessary skills and training to deliver high quality
nursing care.

To ensure nursing care interventions
support and complement local statutory and non-statutory agencies,
primary health care and other specialist services.

To operate within the Mental Health
Act 1983 and the Code of Practice.

To be responsive to external
influences such as Research and Development.
